<h2 id="hd_id3146799" dir="auto">Embedded Objects</h2>
<p id="par_id3159234" class="paragraph" dir="auto">The <span class="emph">Embedded Objects</span> section specifies how to import and export Microsoft Office or other OLE objects.</p>
<p id="par_id3159233" class="paragraph" dir="auto">These settings are valid when no Microsoft or other OLE server exists (for example, in UNIX) or when there is no LibreOffice OLE server ready for editing the OLE objects.</p>
<p id="par_id0107200910364795" class="paragraph" dir="auto">If an OLE server is active for the embedded object, then the OLE server will be used to handle the object.</p>
<p id="par_id0107200910364725" class="paragraph" dir="auto">If no OLE server is active for MathType objects, then embedded MathType objects can be converted to LibreOffice Math objects. For this conversion, the embedded MathType objects must not exceed the MathType 3.1 specifications.</p>

<h2 id="hd_id3146798" dir="auto">[L] and [S] Columns</h2>
<p id="par_id3150670" class="paragraph" dir="auto"><span class="avis">The <span class="emph">[L] and [S]</span> checkbox displays the entries for the pair of OLE objects that can be converted when loading into LibreOffice [L] and/or when saving into a Microsoft format [S]. </span></p>
<p id="par_id3154286" class="paragraph" dir="auto">Mark the box in the [L] column in front of the entry if a Microsoft or other OLE object is to be converted into the specified LibreOffice OLE object when a Microsoft or other document is loaded into LibreOffice.</p>
<p id="par_id3153880" class="paragraph" dir="auto">Mark the box in the [S] column in front of the entry if a LibreOffice OLE object is to be converted into the specified Microsoft OLE object when a document is saved in a Microsoft file format.</p>

<h2 id="hd_id3146797" dir="auto">Character Highlighting</h2>
<p id="par_id3150671" class="paragraph" dir="auto"><span class="avis">Microsoft Office has two character attributes similar to LibreOffice character highlighting. Use this control to select the attribute, <span class="emph">highlighting</span> or <span class="emph">shading</span>, that LibreOffice should use when exporting LibreOffice character highlighting to Microsoft Office file formats.</span></p>
<p id="par_id11611125644396" class="paragraph" dir="auto">Highlighting exports the closest match between a LibreOffice highlighting color and one of the 16 Microsoft highlighting colors, using the Office character attribute that makes it easy for Office users to edit with the highlighting tool in Office applications. This is the default setting in LibreOffice 5.0 to 6.4.</p>
<p id="par_id971611126299924" class="paragraph" dir="auto">Shading exports all RGB colors to the other Office character attribute. This preserves color fidelity between LibreOffice and Microsoft Office documents, but Office users must edit this character attribute with a tool that is not commonly used or easy to find in Office applications. This is the default setting since LibreOffice 7.0.</p>

<p id="par_id91592496281531" class="paragraph" dir="auto"><span class="avis">Mark this checkbox to generate a Microsoft Office lock file in addition to LibreOffice own lock file.</span> Lock files signal to applications that a resource or file should not be used until the lock is released.</p>
