<p id="par_id3153748" class="paragraph" dir="auto">User data is used by templates and Wizards in LibreOffice. For example, the "First name" and "Last name" data fields are used to automatically insert your name as the author of a new document. You can see this under <span class="emph">File - Properties</span>.</p>
<p id="par_id3153031" class="paragraph" dir="auto">Some of the user data is included automatically in an internal dictionary so that it is recognized by the spellchecker. If typing errors are made, the program can use this data to suggest replacements. Note that changes to data take effect only after LibreOffice is restarted.</p>
<p id="par_id3153032" class="paragraph" dir="auto">User data is also used when commenting and in tracking changes mode, to identify comments/edits author; and to mark last edit position in document, so that when author opens the document later, it opens at the last edit position.</p>

<p id="par_id5509201" class="paragraph" dir="auto">In general, all documents open with the cursor at the start of the document.</p>
<p id="par_id6594744" class="paragraph" dir="auto">One exception appears when the author of a Writer text document saves and reopens a document: The cursor will be at the same position where it has been when the document was saved. This only works when the name of the author was entered in <span id="swlnsystextsharedguidedoc_openxml_1" class="switchinline"><span hidden="true" id="MACtextsharedguidedoc_openxml_1" class="MAC"><span class="menuitem">LibreOffice - Preferences</span></span><span hidden="true" id="defaulttextsharedguidedoc_openxml_1"><span class="menuitem">Tools - Options</span></span></span><span class="menuitem"> - LibreOffice - User Data</span>.</p>
